We are experiencing an unexpected wave of sickness in the land. Over the past few months, the novel coronavirus (also known as COVID-19) has swept the nation, taking along with it the lives of various men and women, even throughout the world. We ask God for not only wisdom as we move forward, since we have turned to meeting online and via the telephone to prevent spreading the virus, but also for the healing of our nation. The Word of God says that "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." (2 Chron. 7:14)
Brothers and sisters, we have time to reflect on our walk with the Lord to make our calling and election sure (2 Peter 1:10), and we are on the mission field! We are in a position to intercede on behalf of our nation, to draw closer to God, to share a message of hope, of faith, and of HEALING! The Lord's sacrificial giving of His Son has not been in vain: "with his stripes we are healed." (Isaiah 53:5). If we do not stand up and gird ourselves with the truth, who will? As we draw upon Palm Sunday and Easter, the question begs: "Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed?" (Isaiah 53:1). If not us, then who?

Generally in the month of February, it is customary to celebrate love via Valentine's Day. However, let us shift our perspective and think: why only in February? The Scriptures tell us countless times of the Lord's love for us, both the saint and sinner, both the single and the married, both the rich and the poor, etc. Need help finding these references? Try these:
This month, we are encouraged to think on the love of God, to pray that we receive His love for us, that His love would be MORE THAN ENOUGH for each of us, that we could show the love of Christ to one another as a Church, and that we could show the love of God to the world as we show them His ways. This month, as we start a new year, please pray that we would let the Lord have His way and do a NEW THING in us! Pray that His will and purpose would be made complete in each of us, and that we would be grateful that each day is a new beginning for us to lean on Him and allow His Holy Ghost to transform our lives and the lives of those around us!
This month, please spend time praying for the various missionaries who have sacrificed their comforts and their lives in order to further the Kingdom of God in places where Jesus has not been preached. Pray that the Lord would strengthen them in the service they are carrying out, that He would continue providing for their needs, and that He would keep them safe. Pray that the Lord would continue touching people's hearts with the desire to participate in missions and add to the number of those who would be saved. Pray that we would continue to have the means to support our missionaries.
Please also pray that our local missions efforts would be fruitful in spreading the Gospel and providing for our community. This month, instead of asking God for something, spend time each day thanking Him for the various things He has provided. When you look over your life, there are many things to be grateful for, including being able to wake up each morning, being able to see your loved ones safe, staying/getting saved, and more! If you struggle to find things to currently be grateful for, train your spirit to thank God in advance for the things He's going to do in you, and be bold in thanking Him despite any doubt that could come from the enemy. You have the victory and you have new life in Jesus!
Please pray this month that our Pastor, First Lady, and our many leaders would continue to be bold in living and sharing the Gospel. Pray for their families, as they are in a position where they are sharing their loved ones with the church for the sake of the Kingdom. Pray for godly wisdom, for innovative evangelism, and for all to continue seeing others, themselves, and each other as Christ sees them.
This month, we would like to shift our focus to the various families that have chosen to worship together at GSJ. Please pray for family unity, for the salvation of loved ones, and that our church would be a place to find freedom, victory, and deliverance for all families.
This month, spend some time praying about a special practice the Lord created: marriage! Whether you are single and waiting for the Lord to send someone special your way, married and in bliss, married and going through a rough patch, divorced, separated, praying for others' marriages, etc., please take the time to pray on this. Marriage is a lifelong covenant and is a lot of work! We need the Lord's help to carry it through. All comments subject to approval.
